Courtney Phillips of Indianola is the CEO of South Sunflower County Hospital, which includes Indianola Family Medical Group, Delta Primary Care, Delta Surgical Clinic, and Phillips Health Center. Prior to South Sunflower County Hospital, Courtney served as the Chief Financial Officer at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Mississippi.

Courtney has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare, government, and not-for-profit organizations. In 2018, Courtney was appointed by Governor Phil Bryant to represent the Second Congressional District on The Board of Mental

Health. In 2019, Courtney was again appointed by Governor Phil Bryant to serve on the Rural Healthcare Taskforce. Courtney also serves as a member of the Mississippi Hospital Association, Rural Hospital Solutions, and Delta Council, President of the Rural Hospital Alliance, Treasurer of the Delta Trauma Board, and Secretary / Treasurer for the Mississippi Healthcare Executives, and Independent Chapter of the American College Healthcare Executives. He is an active member of the Rotary of Indianola Club and Indianola Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Delta State University. Courtney is married to the former Katherine Robinson and they have two daughters, Carlile Koestler (Rob) of Greenville, Mississippi, and Galen Ballard (Patrick) of Madison, Mississippi.

Katie Yates of Indianola serves as the Chief Financial Officer of South Sunflower County Hospital. Katie received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Delta State University. She has over 30 years of experience in Finance with the last 10 being in healthcare. As a member of the Mississippi Hospital Association, Katie serves as a board member of one of its sub-committees, Rural Hospital Solutions. She is an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she serves as a lector, commentator, Eucharistic Minister and the finance director of the Parish Council. Katie is a past board member of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, Indianola Academy Booster Club, Indianola Youth Soccer Organization, Indianola Dixie Youth Baseball, and the Indianola Country Club. Katie is married to Avery Yates
and they are parents to two sons, Dylan of Indianola and Austin of Inverness.

Chief Financial Officer
As the Chief Operating Officer, Eligah Johnson oversees operations in Respiratory, Dietary, Radiology, Laboratory, Therapy, and Environmental Services, while working in conjunction with the nursing departments to ensure the continuity of care flows seamlessly through all patient-care service areas.

Eligah began his career with South Sunflower County Hospital as the Director of Respiratory Services in 2014, and in 2018 became the Director of Ancillary Services. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, he has over 35 years of healthcare and business management experience.

Eligah holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Care from Baptist College of Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee, and a Masters of Public Health Degree from Jackson State University. His past work experience includes Delta Health Alliance, Delta Regional Medical Center, and King’s Daughters Hospital. Eligah is a native of Greenville and resides in Greenville with his wife.

Chief Operating Officer

Candace Sandling of Greenwood, formerly of Indianola, serves as the Chief Clinic Administrator for the clinics of South Sunflower County Hospital which includes Indianola Family Medical Group, Delta Primary Care, Delta Surgical Clinic, and Phillips Health Center. Candace has served at South Sunflower County Hospital for over 13 years. Prior to South Sunflower County Hospital, Candace was in the retail business for over 15 years. Candace is an active member of the Medical Group Management Association, Medical Group Management Association of Mississippi, National Association of Rural Health Clinics, and the Mississippi Rural Health Association.

Mrs. Sandling holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Delta State University. Candace is married to Jimmy Sandling and has a son, Benjamin Rosenthal of Indianola, Mississippi, and daughter, Rachael Nichols (John Robert) of Lake Washington, Mississippi.
