Before your surgery, you will meet with a Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) registered nurse (RN) who will work with your primary care physician and help your surgeon have all the reports he or she will need for your surgery. Your PAT RN will be able to answer all of your questions regarding the day of surgery and assure that all pre-operative testing, patient information, patient instructions, and necessary documentation are completed prior to either type of surgery or procedure.
South Sunflower County Hospital will call you to tell you what time to arrive for your surgery. Perioperative RNs will prepare you for surgery, and the surgeon and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will review the final details of your procedure and answer any questions you may have.
On the day of your procedure, patients should enter through the South Sunflower County Hospital Emergency Department and report to the receptionist.
The surgery itself will be performed in one of our surgical suites: a fully-equipped operating room stocked state-of-the-art with surgical equipment. During the procedure, friends and family are welcome to wait in the surgery waiting room, a comfortable space where they'll be provided updates from our nursing staff.
After surgery, you'll be brought to the recovery unit. Here, you'll recover from your procedure under the watchful eye of our registered nurses, located mere steps away, who have been specifically trained in post-operative care. While you're recovering, take heart in knowing that your loved ones will be fully informed of your progress, leading up to your release from the hospital. But the care doesn't end there. Once you're deemed healthy enough to leave, we'll check in to make sure your recovery is going as planned and can answer any questions you might have.
